Sunne, Marvelous Sunne, is located right in the middle of Värmland, a landscape full of contrasts. Culture and the tradition of storytelling are strong in Sunne. This is where the author and Nobel laureate Selma Lagerlöf lived and worked, and her legacy remains strong.
The new OnSpotStory app ‘Sagolika Sunne’ (Marvelous Sunne) offers several tours, packed with inspiring stories. Get to know Selma Lagerlöf’s Sunne, find your way to some of Sunne’s gems and experience Mårbacka estate, the country house where Selma Lagerlöf lived for much of her life.
–We are investing in a guide app so that visitors can find ‘the marvelous’. We are making history accessible through every smartphone, where visitors can easily engage in the stories, both in text-form, images and audio, says Maria Nordmark who is in charge of tourism development in Sunne county.
Keeping Visitors Up To Date With Events
Sunne’s app includes the event calendar feature, a great way to keep visitors up to date with what’s going on in the area. The events are updated automatically via a connection with Sunne’s api.

–When writing is your passion it’s really fun to deep dive into Selma Lagerlöf’s life and Sunne’s literary history. I hope the app truly spreads inspiration about this exciting region and the power of storytelling, Sofie says about working on this project.
The guides are available in Swedish and English. You can download the app for free on the App Store or Google Play Store. Use it before your visit for inspiration, and while there, for a truly marvelous visit.
