Guide Core – Our platform

OnSpotStory specializes in making apps and web apps for museums, destinations and municipalities. Apps developed for and together with places with a lot to tell. We call them Guide apps. We build all apps on our platform GuideCore, a codebase that we have developed and keep developing in close collaboration with our customers.

Basic functions and optional add-on modules

GuideCore offers basic functionality with guides, interactive maps, built-in GPS, etc. with the possibility to add optional additional modules depending on your needs and wishes. Examples of modules are Quiz, Augmented Reality and Gamification.

GuideCore is a good fit for our customer’s needs to easily make information available and to guide and engage visitors on-site.

We currently have around 35 active apps on the market and a dozen web apps.

Tried, tested and affordable

Since every new app is built on the same platform as all the previous ones means that we know that it works. The apps are used daily by visitors and residents in many places around Sweden and abroad.

The fact that we build apps in our module-based platform and don’t write every new app from scratch makes us very cost-effective. And as a customer, you always know exactly what your app will cost.

We develop both the basic functionality and the optional add-on modules according to our customers’ needs and wishes. When we get demand for certain new functionality, like our latest ticketing module, we develop it together with the customer and with other apps in mind. We are creating a module that more people can choose to add to their app. In this way, we spread the development costs between us and our customers.

Technical development

However, it is not all about inventing new functions. As you know, technological development moves forward at a fast pace. New operating systems, new hardware and new security directives appear at frequent intervals. Our mission is to continuously keep GuideCore updated with all new requirements and keep the apps up to date. These updates are included in our license and support fee. As a customer of OnSpotStory, you do not have to worry about your app being affected by

the app death ☠

We won’t say that it happens every time, but we know that there are a lot of examples of new app projects where the expectations were high, and a lot of work and money was put in initially, but after a couple of years, the company that made the app closed down or moved on to other projects. The app can no longer be updated and suffers app death.

This will not happen to a GuideCore app because all our customers’ apps are based on the same platform that we keep updated daily. In addition, we only work with this particular segment of the market. We will not suddenly stop making guide apps.

NEW UPDATE

GuideCore 6.0

In October 2022, we launched a major update to GuideCore. 6.0 comes with major improvements to the general code and functions in terms of accessibility, downloading time, deep linking, navigation, language selection and more.

New rules and conditions

Along with technological development, there are also new laws and regulatory systems for handling personal data, accessibility adaptation and security that both we as developers and our customers need to adapt to.

Users are increasingly demanding to know what information we provide, where it is stored and how it is used. We think this is absolutely right. Therefore, our apps do not register any personal data and we store all data on our own servers in Sweden. Again, we think we have an advantage with GuideCore because we make changes in one place and can update all apps at the same time.
